Introducing Coriander

Running a small or mid-size non-profit can be daunting. Limited budgets must cover both mission and operations, and small teams often struggle to keep up with the workload. Time-consuming manual processes, combined with the need to navigate complex compliance requirements, only add to the burden.

While there are many tools out there for managing contacts, building websites, sending newsletters, and engaging with your community, they tend to be expensive, isolated, and difficult to use—especially for non-profits with limited resources.

That’s where Coriander comes in.

Coriander is designed specifically for smaller non-profits, offering an intuitive, all-in-one platform that requires no technical expertise or costly support contracts. With Coriander, you can easily manage relationships, build and maintain your website and newsletters, and uncover valuable insights to better engage your supporters—all while giving your members and donors a world-class experience, even on a shoestring budget.

About the Name

In floriography, the ancient system of sending coded messages through flowers, coriander means “hidden value”. We chose the name because Coriander helps you uncover the hidden value in your organization. The name also evokes freshness, growth, and versatility, in a space dominated by stagnant ideas.

In case you’re curious, coriander is also known by its Spanish name of “cilantro,” which you may recognize as an essential part of any good salsa! In the United States, cilantro refers to the leaves, and coriander to the seeds, while in many other countries, one name covers both. The leaves, seeds, and root of the coriander plant are all edible and beneficial. Coriander seed is an essential part of many spice blends, such as garam masala and baharat, and lends flavor to gin and Belgian wheat beer.

Many people find coriander leaves to have a pleasant citrusy flavor, although some instead detect a soapy taste. This is due to genetic variations between humans. However, we’re confident that no matter how they experience the taste of cilantro, customers will love Coriander!
